Let me introduce you to myself, I started my practical life, after getting my BA, as a teacher for English as a second language where I learned patience. I worked then as an Admin/Receptionist at the British Embassy, where I learned how to treat all people with highest level of respect and how to handle all stressful situations with a smile.
I then worked with JICA (Japanese International Cooperation Agency). JICA had big projects about underground water resources, environment and the impact of textile industry on the environment. Part of my duties was to travel with teams of experts (Japanese-Canadian-British) and coordinate things for them. While doing their preliminary studies, we use to visit firms and talk to their owners about protecting the Environment, and Applying Highest Standards to Work Environment (ISO 9000). We also held Seminars in every city we pass by to create awareness. We finally gave some recommendations for certain industries. That was a very satisfying job that I will always love.
One thing that I will always be so proud of was starting a school for kids with special needs (Cerebral Palsy), with my sister and two friends. Establishing that kind of school needs high funding to get equipments. To do so, we held some charity bazaars. We went door to door for key persons that can help with this project and start asking for help. People were sometimes mocking us, but that didn’t stop us. We kept going, as we were four young girls with a big dream. One year passed and the school was there. What I learnt from this hard but rewarding experience that we profit more in life from the non-profit projects that we do.
I was lucky enough to have the chance of travelling the whole world, and with every city I visited I learned something new about people and life. Traveling the world was my addiction until the day I moved to Vancouver. It was one of the greatest and most memorable. I remember when I first arrived here I told my brother " Pinch me, I must be dreaming!”
SINCE THAT DAY I FELL IN LOVE WITH VANCOUVER and decided that I will never take any beautiful thing for granted. Even during the times that I am working so hard, I will still wake up every single morning enjoy the ocean and smell the roses, and keep loving the pearl of North America my beautiful city Vancouver... |
